Luke 9: 1-2 says, “When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.”
Five hundred years ago, the Mogul Empire (1526-1857) was establishing itself in India. The Reformation was disrupting medieval Europe to make abundant life available to all. For worldview reasons, no Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, Jain or Sikh tradition had given a single medical college to India while the European Church had been teaching medicine in most universities. That medical education began in Montpellier prior to 1137, although its accreditation as a university came only in 1289. Pre-reformation universities taught medicine only to monks and nuns to equip them to minister to God.
Indians also needed medicine. Therefore, the Mogul courts patronized Unani (Greek) medicine. Akbar, the greatest Mogul emperor, married an Armenian Christian — Mariam Zamani Begum. Her sister, Lady Juliana, served as a physician in Akbar’s harem and built the first Armenian church in Agra — that is, a generation before Shahjahan built the Tajmahal.
The British East India Company (that used to loot India) gave to Asia the first “Medical College and Hospital” in Calcutta in 1835. The American Historical Review, published by the Oxford University Press < https://www.jstor.org/stable/i332036 > points out that evangelicalism was the primary cultural force that persuaded a profit seeking “commercial” company to care for India’s health.
The Committee that gave the final push for India’s education revolution, including for healing India, was headed by Dr John Grant. Other prominent members were J C C Sutherland, Lord Macaulay’s brother-in-law Charles Trevelyan, Thomas Spens, Ram Comul Sen and M J Bramley. Each of these builders of modern India deserve research.
William Bentinck, India’s first Governor-General who banned Sati, infanticide and human sacrifice, opened the Calcutta Medical college in order to introduce into Asia, a biblical view of science and medicine as it had developed in Christian Europe.
“Forty years ago,” an American friend said to me, “I worked as a sales Rep. I sold medicines in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Back the , three out of four hospitals were a part of a Protestant Church. Now, everyone of those hospitals has been sold to the secularists. Only the Roman Catholic Church still has one or two hospitals.”
That process of secularizing the ministry of healing created the problems that “Obama Care” tried to resolve. His attempt solved some problems and created fresh ones. That motivated President Trump to try to undo Obama Care. Trump’s failure made the point: Secular politics that created the problem cannot solve it. Solution requires a Reformation of American theology. A significant section of the American pulpit thinks that saints are not the trees planted by the river of life . . . they are not supposed to produce leaves for the healing of the nations. The “Tree of life” that will bless the nations will be flown-in after the Millennium . . . in a gigantic UFO called the New Jerusalem (Please see Proverbs 3:18; 11:30; 15:4; Psalm 1:3; John 15:16 etc). (That Tree of Life will give us abundant life because — presumably — the Cross of Christ was insufficient for eternal life.)
Well . . . “The Third Education Revolution” is mobilizing the living body of the Resurrected Christ to create the world’s best medical encyclopedia. This will be made available for free online. As physicians, researchers, writers, counsellors, prayer warriors and healers begin to make abundant life available to all . . . educationists will use that information to create a medical curriculum to be made available globally for $100 or so, per year, per student.
No one needs to pay $50,000+ a year to go to a medical university to memorize the bones in human body. Three-four students should enroll in a Christian medical university, but meet in a local church and study human bones under the supervision of an Academic Pastor (that is, a home schooling Mom, credentialed by a university, to serve as a teaching assistant.) These medical tudents will learn fixing bones online. For practical experience they will go to the local hospitals and clinics, that partner with churches and medical universities. Students will go to a medical university physically, for short durations, to learn what cannot be taught in a church or a local hospital.
A physician who graduates DEBT-FREE from a medical university will have the economic freedom to serve the poor. Christ’s Spirit of Compassion will take medicine back from the satanic spirit of greed. That is Kingdom Education Revolution.
